Oakdale Agricultural High School Launches its Second Laboratory
With staff and learners already sold on the idea of ICT in their classrooms, the addition of a second laboratory has been welcomed by Oakdale Agricultural High. The official launch of the new Khanya laboratory took place on 21 July 2006 and the principal, Mr Andre Latsky, expressed his gratitude to all who were involved in the project and in the promotion of technology in education.
The project at this school was accomplished with relative ease, according to Mr Stephan Coetzer of the Centre for e-Innovation who assisted with the hardware and software installation. According to Mr Coetzer, it is easy to assist schools where there is a great need and a passion for technology.
Also speaking at the launch event, Christelle Barkhuizen (Khanya’s Implementation Project Manager in the South Cape / Karoo), complimented the school on their perseverance, their endurance and their passion for the ICT programme. Christelle and Mr Latsky officially opened the new Khanya laboratory.
With a second laboratory now fully functional at Oakdale, more and more learners have access to the new learning area, CAT. There is a great deal of enthusiasm for this subject among the learners and their new Khanya laboratory will allow them to explore this subject far more effectively.
