A Project of the Western Cape Education Department
GENERAL INFORMATION

General Information

The Khanya (from the Xhosa word "ukukhanya" which means "enlightenment") Project is an initiative of the Western Cape Education Department, which started in April 2001.

Khanya acknowledges the many lessons learned from others. Some of these have formed the basis for the structure of the project. During the past 4 years Khanya, in turn, has learned many lessons and these we want to share liberally with all who can benefit from them. You are welcome to read about various features of our projects on this site, and to make use of the published documents, forms and templates.
