Westridge Secondary

Westridge High School has never deviated from its policy of accepting all the eligible learners resident in and around their immediate surroundings irrespective of religion, race, academic ability or financial means.

Many academic achievers, celebrities and national sports stars are proud to claim Westridge High as their 'alma mater'. Their emphasis has always been on the holistic development of the learner, exposing them to as many facets of life as possible.

Khanya was yet another opportunity for them to display their ability and they embraced the prospect of using technology to deliver the curriculum. The technology facility, always a hive of activity where you will find educators and learners before school, during break and even after school hours, has recently been expanded with the addition of 2 further laboratories. Each laboratory is dedicated to particular learning areas: the Khanya laboratory is used exclusively for mathematics and mathematical literacy, the second laboratory is where learners do CAT and computer literacy and the third laboratory is dedicated to the languages and other learning areas that lend themselves to technology integrated curriculum delivery.

Mathematics educators at Westridge High use every opportunity to stay on track with the latest developments in education to provide their learners with the very best. They formed part of the Khanya mathematics intervention that exposed the educators to teaching the NCS with technology, as well as the Spark project with the University of Stellenbosch.

A partnership that developed between Westridge High and a school in Holland has created an opportunity for the learners to work on a joint project. The learners enoy using the technology to communicate with their partner school
