Bredasdorp High

Bredasdorp High serves the Bredasdorp community and the surrounding farming community. An ex model C school, Bredasdorp High were no newcomers to the world of technology. They had recognised the importance of technology for their learners if they were to be prepared for a future in a technology driven job market and had therefore established two of their own computer laboratories.

With the approach of the Further Education and Training curriculum in 2006, it became evident that Bredasdorp High would have to explore an additional laboratory if they were to have the capacity for mathematics focus that the curriculum demanded. Their existing laboratories were fully utilised for computer studies and computyping and had no capacity for curriculum delivery for any other learning areas. Bredasdorp High therefore became part of the Khanya Project and a laboratory with twenty computers was established and MathsPro and E-school software was loaded.

Bredasdorp High is peopled with a very positive staff who have a great deal of enthusiasm for the Khanya Project. The head of the mathematics and science department took charge of the project in its infant stages and she has driven it with commitment and zeal. The staff has a high level of computer literacy and learners are positive, enthusiastic and thoroughly proficient users of technology.

While Bredasdorp High has been committed to technology in education for some time, they are delighted with the contribution made to their technology arsenal by the Khanya Project. They believe that the work of their very competent mathematics educators will be enhanced and taken to a new level through the use of MathsPro. Through this type of initiative, Khanya seeks to build partnerships with all schools, according to their specific needs.
