Indwe Secondary
This school is situated in the small but ever growing township of KwaNonqaba in the town of Mossel Bay. The school has a proud history and track record of achievement, reflected in the number of alumni, who currently occupy influential positions in the private and public sector and in its choir that regularly participates successfully in competitions.
With the help of PetroSA, Indwe Secondary was able to install a fully equipped, modern computer laboratory and since their inclusion in the Khanya Project, there has been a significant increase in the number of learners who enrol for Mathematics and Science on the Higher Grade with a marked improvement in the results in these subjects.
Educators have been trained in MS Office and they use these applications to enhance teaching and learning at the school. This training has also impacted positively on class administration.
The school has acquired software to be utilised by the languages in the laboratory. With the advent of new technology, Mindset was also linked to the Khanya laboratory. This has allowed educators and learners alike to engage with up-to-date curriculum material in learning areas such as mathematics, science, English, and information technology, to name but a few. This has resulted in a greater number of excited learners having access to the curriculum through technology. Already the school is planning to extend their technology to include interactive whiteboards as a medium of instruction. Thanks to the Khanya Project, learners at this school have the opportunity to become computer literate and to experience a new way of learning.
The curiosity and enthusiasm shown by learners and educators has ensured optimum usage of the computer laboratory.
