Breeriver High School

Originally designed to house fewer than one thousand learners, Breerivier Secondary School has grown to a few learners shy of two thousand. It is no wonder that they fulfilled all the requirements for eligibility for a Khanya Computer Laboratory to support effective curriculum delivery.

The primary focus for Breerivier High School initially was Mathematics where they use the Master Maths software to support the curriculum. Expectations that the Khanya Project will change the learners' attitude towards Mathematics were so high that afternoon classes were made available so that the needs of all learners could be met. Having been schooled in basic computer literacy, learners are also able to complete all projects and tasks using software such as MicroSoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

Educators at Breerivier Secondary are keen users of the technology, both for administrative purposes and for all aspects of their curriculum delivery – from planning, to lesson preparation and delivery through to assessment and recording. With over 85% of the educators qualified as e-educators, they are competent and confident users of technology for curriculum delivery purposes. Educators have come to see technology as an integral part of the teaching and learning process at the school.

The LAN administrator is very supportive in the laboratory and very enthusiastic about the success of the Khanya Project at Breerivier High School.
